About this loan
The Motivation of Unemployed Persons To Start Self-Employed Enterprises Scheme (MUPSES) was launched by the Union Territory of Puducherry in 2006. Its primary objective is to foster self-employment among the youth of Puducherry, thereby contributing to the Union Territory's economic growth. The scheme specifically targets unemployed individuals, providing them with financial assistance to start their own businesses. It encourages the establishment of enterprises across both manufacturing and service sectors, which are vital for a diverse local economy.
The scheme covers a wide array of economically viable industrial and service activities. Examples of businesses presently encouraged include mechanized laundries, beauty parlours (saloons), tailoring units, and the setting up of hygienic tea and coffee stalls. By supporting such grassroots initiatives, MUPSES aims to transform unemployed residents into job creators, promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and economic independence within the region. The financial support structure combines a loan component with a significant subsidy, making it accessible and attractive for first-time entrepreneurs.
